The Community Theatre at Mayo Center for the Performing Arts is in the final stage of a $7 million “Setting the Stage” capital campaign to fund the renovation and expansion of the Theatre’s facility. To date, over $6.3 million of the $7 million goal has been met. The final challenge now is to raise the remaining $700,000 and finish the campaign on time by December 31, 2008.
The expansion project includes a new stage house and features a 1,300 seat concert hall, a rigging and fly rail system for scenery changes, orchestra pit and air conditioning. Construction on the building annex - The Pine Street Center - continues on schedule. Portions of the building have been operational since January 2008, and houses new administrative offices for Theatre staff, dressing rooms for artists, a loading bay, production facilities and The Starlight Room -- a new public space for classes, lectures, smaller performances, rentals and receptions.
The final stage of the campaign will fund the remaining pieces of the building project within the Pine Street Center to open by September 2008. Projects include a rehearsal studio for the Performing Arts School, offices for the Education Department’s staff, a small conference room for one-on-one coaching and meeting space, and a Green Room and Catering Facility for the artists.
The new and improved Community Theatre at Mayo Center for the Performing Arts will serve as the region’s leading performing arts center and present more than 200 performances each season and operate 12 months per year. We would like to thank all of you who have supported the campaign in the past and ask you to consider helping us reach our final goal. |
