Master Classes and Workshops 2014

Arrangements are made for many of our featured performances to further enlighten our audiences with master classes or special workshops for students and community members.

These programs have traveled to many local colleges, high schools and elementary schools all over New Jersey.

New for 2014!
Broadway Master Class Series: Ages 13-Adult

For the serious musical theatre performer!  Throughout the year we will be offering a special series of Master Classes with Broadway Performers and industry professionals.   You will have a chance to watch them demonstrate their craft, ask questions about the business, and be coached on your own material.   Don’t miss out on the opportunity to work with Broadway insiders!!  Check the website for regular updates and your chance to register for each class. First class is March 10!

Are you getting ready for school, college or professional musical theatre auditions? In March, April and May, MPAC will be offering Musical Theatre Audition Technique classes with leading Broadway professionals, Marla Mindelle, David Wannen, and Andrew Kober!

Participating students will perform either two 16 bar cuts or one brief selection for the class and Broadway guest, who will offer critique and help craft your audition piece(s). Auditing students will observe and be able to participate in the Q & A after all participating students have sung. This class is for advanced musical theatre performers ages 14+.

Participating Students - $65 (maximum of 12 students)  
Auditing Students - $25 

Marla Mindelle
Monday, March 10th from 6-8:30pm  

Marla is fresh off of her run in the Broadway production of Cinderella as stepsister Gabrielle. She also starred in the original Broadway cast of Sister Act as Sister Mary Robert. Other credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Papermill Playhouse), South Pacific (Lincoln Center), The Drowsy Chaperone (First National Tour) and more!

David Wannen
Monday, April 14th from 6-8:30pm  

David is the Executive Director of the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players. His favorites include Paramount (Utopia), Strephon (Iolanthe), Sultan (The Rose of Persia), Wilfred (The Yeomen of the Guard), Arac (Princess Ida), The Mikado (The Mikado) and The Pirate King (The Pirates of Penzance). Tours: Beauty and the Beast (Beast u/s), Camelot with the late Robert Goulet (Lancelot u/s). Regional: Nominated Best Featured Actor by Philadelphia Inquirer for Camelot with Media Theater

 

Andrew Kober
Monday, May 12th from 6-8:30pm 

Andrew is currently working on the 2014 revival of Les Miserables (Ensemble). Other theatre credits include Hair (Margaret Mead/Dad) and film/television credits include Boardwalk Empire, Pan Am, Blue Bloods, City of Dreams, and House of Cards.

Gilbert & Sullivan Master Class
On Thursday, February 23rd, 2012, New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players' Managing Director, David Wannen, conducted a Musical Theatre Audition Master Class in the MPAC Starlight Room. David coached local college students through their audition songs and offered intuitive advice and tips to help the students succeed in the professional audition room. Janine Papio (Senior - Drew University), Mikayla Petrilla (Freshman - Farleigh Dickinson University), Nicole Lowenstein (Senior - Montclair State University), Kristina Nieskens (Junior - Montclair State University) Evan Ruggiero (Senior - Montclair State University), and Montana Bryne (8th Grade Harding Township School) participated.

Sunday, January 30th, with members from the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats!
