Performing Arts School
The Community Theatre Performing Arts School is a performance-based theatrical training program offering students ages 5-18 a quality education in the theatre arts in a nurturing and supportive atmosphere. Classes are taught in musical theatre, acting and voice. Each 12-week class leads to an end of season performance. Over 250 children annually participate. Limited scholarships available based on need.

Performing Arts Company
This musical ensemble made of up teens represents our organization by performing Broadway-style musical numbers at community events and fundraisers around New Jersey completely free of charge to the organization.
Past performances have included: Volunteer Center of Morris County, Morris Family Services, Children on the Green, EPIC, Literacy Volunteers of Morris County, Neighborhood House, and many more! |
Adult Education
Pre-concert lectures are held at select events that provide background on the artist(s), the art form and the material to be performed to give audiences a better appreciation of what they about to experience. The Garden State Spotlight series showcases New Jersey-based artists in a variety of artistic disciplines at a low cost so concertgoers can develop a sense of appreciation and awareness of the richness of the arts in New Jersey. Adult classes are on the Theatre long-range plan objectives.

Professional Development workshops focus on using arts to enhance classroom curriculum while covering specific artistic areas. Subjects include workshops for teachers focusing on both arts and integrated curriculums. Click here for 2008-2009 programs |
Residency Programs
Residency programs offer students a unique opportunity to work with professional artists and to experience the arts right in their classroom. This program is intended to work very closely with the classroom teacher to enhance current curriculum through the use of the arts. Participation in the Arts Residency programs reinforce skills in reading comprehension, following directions, public speaking, critical thinking conflict resolution, team building, concentration, memorization, character development, and problem solving.
Residencies are currently available in Musical Theatre, Shakespeare, Creative drama and improvisation, Playwriting and Dance. |
Outreach
The Community Theatre at Mayo Center for the Performing Arts partners with local organizations to provide arts and education-related activities to enhance the local community. Programs range from providing 28 weeks of classes to students at the Neighborhood House to offering specialty workshops, resources and discounted or free tickets to local organizations.

Master Classes and Workshops
Arrangements are made for many of our featured performances to further enlighten our audiences with master classes or special workshops for students and community members.
These programs have traveled to many local colleges, high schools and elementary schools all over New Jersey. |

Explorations Through the Arts
This series of educational and entertaining programs is offered to schools as a field trip to the Theatre. Performances are geared toward specific curricular themes taught in school. Study guides provide teachers the opportunity to prepare students prior to the performances and to provide follow-up activities that can be used to reinforce the material.

Music Student of the Month
This New Jersey State Council on the Arts-endorsed music student recognition program honors Middle or High School music students who are nominated by their music teachers for their musicianship, dedication and contribution to their school community. Students are honored every month and invited to participate in an end-of-year recital.
