Any teacher attending an Explorations Through the Arts Event may attend one Professional Development Workshop for free.
Creative Dramatics in the Elementary Classroom
Teachers will learn to use principles of theatre to enhance teaching. Workshop will focus on the advantages of bringing theatre into the classroom to build imagination, expression, and creativity while encouraging concentration, discipline and focus.
Teachers of Grades K-3

Theatre as a Problem Solver
This workshop will focus on using theatre and dramatic techniques to address social issues in the school community. Topics to explore will include: tolerance, bullying, conflict resolution, peer pressure, communication and ethical dilemmas.

Theatre and Test-Taking for the Elementary Grades
Teachers will learn to use dramatic techniques to help foster concentration, focus and teamwork in the classroom. Specific exercises will be taught to aid in classroom and standardized test-taking.

Romeo and Juliet/Shakespeare
Explore how actors and directors access the physical and emotional dimensions of the text. Learn rehearsal techniques to help students demystify the language and inhabit the imaginary world of the play.
