Our third annual festival features the country rock of Citizens Band Radio, Southern bluesmen Bobby Barth (of Blackfoot), and Sing Out’s Roger Deitz.
Background
:
Citizens Band Radio's music, dedicated to the working man, is a vintage early 70s Blend of Folk & Country and Rock, a music stew borrowing from the great Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, Jesse Colter, The Band etc. to stir up their own unique blend of original music.
Bobby Barth is a musician, songwriter, studio owner and producer, with over 50 albums to his credit. Nearly 200 of his songs having appeared on dozens of different artists’ albums. He has toured the world for decades as lead singer and lead guitarist for Southern Rock legends Blackfoot, melodic rock pioneers, Axe, and Aussie superstar, Angry Anderson (Rose Tattoo).
While his forte' is blues/melodic rock, he has worked extensively in various other genre. Delta and Chicago-style blues and slide guitar are his current focus. Bobby has been the go-to player for melodic-style guitar solos for producers all over the world. His guitar and vocals can be heard on music as diverse as early punk legends, The Runaways, to Germany’s Jaded Heart, and back around again to movies like "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead" and Mitsubishi car commercials.
Celebrating his 44th year as a working musician, he is currently working on a new solo CD and touring with his new project "The Louisiana HooDoo Krewe."
Roger Deitz
The compositions of Roger Deitz, a musician and writer with acerbic wit, have a traditional flavor that fit with other songs of the folk legacy. Playing primarily guitar and banjo, Roger has performed and hosted at many major venues, including repeat performances on the main stage of the prestigious Philadelphia Folk Festival. Roger has been termed “among the most knowledgeable folk music writers in the United States,” having written for over thirty-five years on the subject. His work appeared in Frets, Acoustic Guitar, Fast Folk, Billboard, and the Encyclopaedia of Popular Music of the World. Roger is a columnist for Sing Out! Magazine, where he also serves on the advisory board. He is a founding member of the Folk Alliance. His humorous book, The Folk Music Chronicles, continues to be popular.
