Back by popular demand! Pinkalicious loves pink, especially pink cupcakes. Her parents warn her not to eat too many of them, but after she does -- she turns pink! What’s a girl to do? Ages 4-12
Background:
At the Pinkerton residence we learn how much Pinkalicious loves the color pink. She sings “Pinkatastic”. Mrs. Pinkerton has just finished making Pinkalicious’ favorite pink cupcakes and when her mother wasn’t looking she added the whole tube of pink food coloring to the batch. They all eat the cupcakes, even though Peter wanted cookies. Just then Pinkalicious’ friend Alison calls and Pinkalicious promises to bring her a cupcake at the playground. Pinkalicious asks for another cupcake, but Mrs.Pinkerton is busy taking care of paying the bills and other household matters and says she may get sick from eating too many. Mr. Pinkerton comes home and Pinkalicious asks him for more cupcakes and begins singing ‘Just One More”. Pinkalicious is sent to bed, without another cupcake. Mrs. Pinkerton sings “You Get Just What You Get” advising Pinkalicious to be satisfied with what she has, instead of always wanting more. The next morning Pinkalicious wakes to discover that she is covered from head to toe in pink! In all the excitement, she sings “When Dreams Come True”.
Her parents rush her to the doctor on their four-person bike, and Dr. Wink diagnoses her with “Pinkatitis”. The Doctor tells Mr. and Mrs. Pinkerton that the only cure kno wn to modern science for Pinkatitis is to eat green foods. On the way home, the Pinkertons cycle past the park and Pinkalicious runs off to look for Alison. When Peter tries to play with a pink ball his father takes it away from him and gives it to Pinkalicious. Peter sings the “Pink Blues”. Pinkalicious’ best friend, Alison, doesn’t even recognize her because she is camouflaged by all the pink flowers in the park. They fight because she didn’t bring cupcakes. Then Pinkalicious is mistaken for a pink flower and attacked by birds and bees and she sings “Buzz Off!”
Her family eventually finds her amidst the flowers and takes her home. She starts to wonder if being pink is all she thought it would be. Her parents desperately try to feed her green food and sing “The Power of Anti Oxidants”. Pinkalicious will not eat any green food and is sent to bed. Mr. Pinkerton confesses to Mrs. Pinkerton that he also had pinkatitis. When he was a boy he ate too many pink lollipops and turned pink and the other kids made fun of him. He’s afraid to let Peter wear pink or play with pink toys because he doesn’t want Peter to go through that. Mrs. Pinkerton suggests that he loosen up and let Peter express his preference for pink or any other color he chooses. In the middle of the night Pinkalicious sneaks into the kitchen and eats yet another cupcake. The next morning she wakes up red! Now she must do something to fix her predicament. Pinkalicious accepts the fact that she must follow the doctor's orders and eat green food. Peter and Pinkalicious sing “Green Foods.” She eats pickle relish, swiss chord covered in slew, leafy salad, and brussel sprouts burgers. Pinkalicious returns to her original color. She has learned self-control and to be careful what you wish for.
