From the Festival of green olives from Malaga, the Feria de Sevilla and the Rocieras of Jerez, (in the South) to the ferias of Galicia, Asturias and Madrid (in the North), enjoy the rich diversity of Spain’s cultural traditions with Flamenco and colorful regional dances. And in celebration of Cinco de Mayo “Tapas Mexicanas” – a small “taste” of the exciting dances of Mexico.

About Alborada: The Company was originally founded in 1965 by María Alba, known to many aficionados as being the greatest exponent of the seguiriya and many other Spanish dance drama pieces in the U.S. It was an integral part of the summer concerts at Jacobs Pillow in the 60's and 70's under the name of The María Alba Spanish Dance Company. In 1980, the Company was revitalized under the direction of María and its current Director, Eva Lucena, who brought to the company a group of extraordinary new dancers and choreographers.

The Company has developed a breadth of repertoire that demonstrates this diversity of Spanish dance and its relationship to cultures in all parts of the world. Programs by Alborada Spanish Dance Theater focus on the common ground we share, emphasizing cultural relationships over cultural differences.
