We received some positive news recently when Governor Murphy announced that performing arts venues such as MPAC could open at a limited capacity of 150 people beginning September 4.
This is a welcome first step on a long journey back to being able to present the types of concerts you’ve come to enjoy here. There’s still a long way to go before we will be able to have capacity crowds, but we are at least seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.
As we turn toward the fall, our ability to present limited capacity shows inside MPAC is another option in our toolkit to bring the arts back to Morristown. This past summer we enjoyed drive in concerts and participated virtual camps. As the days grow shorter, we are planning additional drive in concert events, we are ramping up expanded Fall PAS virtual classes, connecting you with virtual arts opportunities, as well as seeking opportunities to present events inside.
Look for announcements over the next few weeks as we begin to roll out these performances.
We are ready to welcome you back. We’ve worked all summer to ensure that MPAC is a safe, clean and healthy environment for our patrons, staff, volunteers and artists. This includes UV filters in our ventilation system, touchless faucets and paper towel dispensers, social distancing markers in the plaza and lobby, changes in our concessions, additional hand sanitizer stations, Plexiglas barriers and more.
Suffice to say that your next MPAC experience may feel a little different, but it’s going to be safe. Face coverings, temperature checks, social distancing will all be part of the norm. They are the parameters through which we are allowed to operate. We appreciate your cooperation as we work together to bring the arts back into our lives.
We know you have questions and we will provide answers. We so look forward to seeing you in our building sooner than later.
