Dear Friends,
It’s hard to believe it’s been one month since the last time we all got together to enjoy a concert on our stage. We miss you and we hope you are doing well. We can’t wait to see our artists, patrons, students, volunteers and staff again soon!
As we adjust to the new normal of being alone together, we’ve been asking ourselves, how can we continue to bring the excitement of live concerts and extraordinary artistic events to our audiences if you physically can’t come through our doors?
What we’ve discovered in the past four weeks is that our mission remains as focused as ever on presenting a wide range of programs that entertain, enrich and educate the diverse population of region. However, the way we go about that has changed.
Shows on stage have become concerts on computers, classes have become remote rehearsals. As we adapt as an organization, we remain as committed to our community as ever – perhaps even more — to be a respite from the world around us.
Starting Friday, April 10 at 12:30 pm, we are excited to present our first originally produced Facebook Live Friday concert featuring Acute Inflections. Each Friday, we plan to present a new live event. If you can’t make the livestream, it will be available to view at your leisure. Every Wednesday, we’ll be showing Music Beyond Borders concerts from years past at 12:30 pm. You can learn more about these events, as well as access links to concerts, theatre productions and more on our Virtual Arts page.
Our Performing Arts School is back in session – online – and our students meet each week as usual to enjoy performing arts lessons with their instructors and classmates. Residency programs continue virtually with area schools. We will continue to honor local music students through our Music Student of the Month program.
We continue to reschedule events that have been forced to postpone. Please see the entire list here. Every week brings new rescheduled events. They remain onsale, and good seats are available. If you cannot make the new dates and have the ability to do so, please consider donating the value of your tickets back to the Theatre.
What makes MPAC special is the relationship that our members and patrons have with our staff and volunteers. We are a true family who share a love of the arts. While we miss seeing you, we want to remain engaged with you. Coming soon, we’ll launch a new community page on our website where we plan to let you know what your favorite volunteers have been up to, let you get to know our staff a little more personally, share information about our local business partners, and offer some fun ways for you to interact with us.
Finally, we are here for you. Use MPAC’s resources when you need a lunch break from working at home, want to find something to do with the kids on rainy afternoon, or if you just need a pick-me-up. Please let us know what else we can provide for you during these unique times.
On behalf of our staff and Board, we wish you all the best.
