On September 29, 1994, Mayo Performing Arts Center (known then as The Community Theatre) officially reopened as a performing arts center with a performance by the internationally acclaimed Kirov Orchestra.
This special day followed months of toil and dedication by volunteers who worked to bring this 1930s gem back to life from years of disrepair, restoring the theatre to its former glory and ushering in a new era.
Over the past 30 years, our theatre has grown significantly to become one of the most successful nonprofit arts organizations in New Jersey. Today, over 225,000 people engage with the arts through our mainstage shows, arts education programs and community outreach events.
