Madison resident Alan McDermott has been named MPAC’s Volunteer of the Month of September.
This recognition program is designed to shine a light on the many individuals who contribute their time and energy toward making MPAC and the MPAC customer experience a success.
“I have enjoyed volunteering – giving back to the community and helping others,” Alan said. “But it is the kindness of the other volunteers and employees that makes it enjoyable and is the reason why I keep coming back year after year. It is also nice hearing from the patrons, especially after the pandemic, thanking us for being here, giving up our free time to keep the place open so that they have someplace locally to go to see a great show.”
Alan has been a volunteer at MPAC for over 10 years. He has helped in many volunteer positions at performances, including being one of our first Parking Attendants who guided our patrons to parking areas in town. During 2020-21, Alan was one of the first volunteers to come back and help at our low-capacity performances during COVID. He also helped direct traffic during our Drive-in concert series; developing a queuing method that allowed check-in for early arrivals, and an organized gate opening.
“Alan always has a smile on his face and is willing to jump in where he can. We are very excited to celebrate him this month!,” said Erin Pach, MPAC’s Front of House Director.
