Women In Hip Hop: From The Mic to The Boardroom

Wes Jackson, educator, producer and entrepreneur, returns to MPAC with a new virtual presentation highlighting the journey of women in hip hop. From Sha Rock to Megan Thee Stallion, and Sylvia Robinson (Sugar Hill Records) to Desiree Perez (CEO of Roc Nation), women have mastered the ability to hold and wield power from both the artistic and business side of this global billion-dollar industry. This virtual lecture will be followed by Q&A.

Celtic Thunder Ireland

Celtic Thunder Ireland celebrates 10 years of Celtic Thunder hits and features their most popular songs and Irish and Celtic fan favorites that launched Celtic Thunder into the hearts music lovers across the U.S. The wonderful arrangements of the ensemble numbers in Celtic Thunder Ireland reflect the power of the soloists, who range in age and musical style, featuring songs that celebrate a common Celtic heritage.

The Devon Allman Project featuring Jimmy Hall and Larry McCray and Samantha Fish Band

Led by Blues Music Award winning guitarist Devon Allman, and featuring two Allman Betts band members, The Devon Allman Project performs the music of The Allman Brothers and Gregg Allman as well as fan favorite originals and surprise covers. Featuring Jimmy Hall (Wet Willie) and Larry McCray, the Samantha Fish Band, and special guests the River Kittens, this concert promises to be an explosive night of blues rock not to be missed.

Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox: The Grand Reopening Tour

Postmodern Jukebox, the time-twisting musical collective known for putting “pop music in a time machine,” is set to make the ‘20s roar again! Straight No Chaser: Back in the High Life Tour 2022

New Jersey Ballet: Don Quixote
Saturday, March 5 at 8 pm
New Jersey Ballet premiered Don Quixote 2011, and it had made it to the Star-Ledger’s prestigious Top Ten dance events of the year. Don Quixote is rich in Spanish color, flavor, and the laugh-out-loud humor of Cervantes’ masterpiece about an old knight, his squire, and their foray into the age of chivalry.

New Jersey Symphony: Ravel’s Bolero
Sunday, March 6 at 3 pm
Superb NJ Symphony principals step into the spotlight: Bart Feller in a tour de force that lets the flute’s shining personalities sing out, and Jonathan Spitz in a piece many call the perfect cello concerto. Xian Zhang bookends this beauty with iconic pieces by the master orchestral colorist Maurice Ravel, ending with the slow-build hurricane of Boléro.

Morris Family Concerts: A Day of Irish Culture
March 12 at 2:30 pm & 5 pm
Continue the celebration of Irish culture with two events at Mayo Performing Arts Center. An interactive Children’s concert at 2:30pm following the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Morristown. There is also a 5:00pm concert by Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones. Derek Warfield is a singer, songwriter, mandolin player and a founding member of the Wolfe Tones, performing with the band for nearly thirty seven years, writing and recording over 60 songs.

New Jersey Ballet: Hansel & Gretel
Sunday, March 27 at 3 pm
This two-act ballet is a lively re-telling of the well-known fairytale about a brother and sister who wander into a forest where they are captured by a witch in a fantastic gingerbread house. In a classic good-triumphs-over-evil plot, the spunky youngsters defeat the witch, free other children she had baked into gingerbread, and are reunited with their loving parents in the happily-ever-after finale. The ballet incorporates the beautiful music of Engelbart Humperdinck, including his “Fourteen Angels” bedtime prayer and features New Jersey Ballet’s original “storyteller” narration so even the littlest theatergoer can keep up with ease.

AMERICAN RIVER is a cinemac adventure that follows Ms. Bruno and river guide Carl Alderson on a 4 ‐day, 80‐mile kayak journey from the Passaic’s pristine headwaters to its toxic mouth in Newark Bay. Along the way, candid conversations with residents, experts and advocates reveal the Passaic’s extraordinary history, geology and ecology: How did this powerful and once‐celebrated river become one of the most contaminated in America? Can it be saved?
