Morristown resident Betty Mills has been named MPAC’s Volunteer of the Month of July.
This recognition program is designed to shine a light on the many individuals who contribute their time and energy toward making MPAC and the MPAC customer experience a success.
Betty has been a volunteer at MPAC since 1994, when The Community Theatre reopened as a performing arts venue.
“I like to serve the community, especially MPAC, since I was there from the very beginning,” Betty Mills said. “I enjoy meeting the staff, other volunteers, and the public.”
Betty is about to start her 28th season with MPAC. She is extremely active in the community. Aside from MPAC, she continues her volunteer work with her woman’s club, the Great Swamp (where she says she removes snapping turtles from the road) and other various non-profit organizations.
“There is no job that Betty will not do, from escorting ADA patrons to their seats with the utmost care, to supervising the bathroom lines to ensure all patrons get back to their seats before intermission ends,” said Erin Pach, MPAC’s Front of House Director.
During the height of COVID, Betty assisted the Volunteer Manager with keeping in touch with MPAC’s volunteer corps with phone calls so that the volunteers remained connected.
Betty worked professionally as a nurse for 45 years and has also worked for the Morris County Park System, recently retiring. She is a lifelong Morristown resident (her family has lived in the same house for four generations) and is an avid animal lover.
If you don’t see Betty at a performance, check the Delaware River or the Pine Barrens, where she continues to kayak, raft, and hike on a regular basis!
