Mayo Performing Arts Center was honored as “Employer of the Year” by Employment Horizons at its annual Recognition Dinner on October 18th at Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park.
MPAC was honored for its proactive support of diversity in the workplace for people with special needs and other barriers to employment. Employment Horizons noted that MPAC “values Employment Horizons clients, collaborates on ways to help them succeed without judgement and welcomes the opportunity to help them on their career path.”
“MPAC is committed to creating opportunities and opening doors for individuals without barriers,” said Allison Larena, President and CEO, Mayo Performing Arts Center. “We value all of our employees as important members of the MPAC family and thank Employment Horizons for this incredible recognition.”
Beyond its hiring practices, MPAC has created many opportunities for individuals and for families with children who have special needs to enjoy entertainment at its facility. This includes MPAC’s award-winning Miracle Project New Jersey performing arts classes for children on the autism spectrum and other special needs, “relaxed performances” with modified sound and lights, sign language interpretation upon request, free concerts and movies open to all community members and more.
“Mayo Performing Arts Center serves as the heart of arts and entertainment in Morristown and it is our belief that every person should have access to enjoying magnificent experiences at our venue.” Ms. Larena added.
